I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again — half the reason you go back to a restaurant isn’t the food. It’s how they make you feel. Llama Sam made me feel like I belonged there. The service here is the kind that’s hard to describe until you’ve experienced it — present without hovering, warm without being performative. Nobody was trying too hard. They just… cared. And in a world of indifferent restaurant service, that hits differently. Now the food. The skirt steak fried rice was the kind of dish that makes you stop mid-bite. I would have liked the chaufa to be seasoned a little more but the steak earned the stars for me. The jalea was generous. Light breading, whole shrimp, crab, calamari, fresh tomato and red onion on the side. Nothing greasy, nothing soggy. Just clean and crispy. Then there’s the ceviche. TBH, putting freshly fried hot calamari on top of cold leche de tigre is a culinary contradiction — if I had my Top Chef judge hat on, I’d flag it. The hot calamari warms the tiger’s milk and technically compromises the dish. But was it good? Yes. Did taste good? Yes. $87 for three dishes that looked like this and service that felt like that? In Hackensack? Go. Just go.
I came here to eat with my mom, the food was delicious & fresh! & don’t miss out on the dessert 🍮!! It’s very good. They have lunch specials that are affordable and prices are good! Will definitely be back again 💯
You might initially walk past this unassuming restaurant located right off Main Street, but that would be a mistake. This place is a gem with fresh ingredients and attentive service. I had the Ceviche Llama Sam, a delicious mix of fresh fish, lightly grilled octopus, green plantains, avocado, sweet potato, and more, all soaked in a tangy, spicy marinade. Perfect.
Wonderful atmosphere. The chef took the time to introduce himself and made us feel very welcomed. The food was very good! We loved everything from the service to the food. We will be coming back!
Food was super good our server Nikki was very attentive I will def be coming back in the future. I had the mixed chaufa and my mother had the seafood chaufa both were super good !

Llama Sam was honestly such a great experience. The place was spotless so clean and welcoming, the service from my waitress was excellent! She has a great way with people and very kind. Every single dish we tried was delicious. The ceviches, pescado a lo macho, pulpo, and especially the lomo saltado were all outstanding the meat in the lomo was so tender. The homemade drinks were also so good, but the highlight for me was the lucuma tres leches… absolute perfection. Not too sweet, super delicate, and easily one of the best desserts I’ve had in a long time. I was genuinely impressed with everything. I’ll definitely be back if you’re thinking about trying it, just go. You won’t be disappointed.
This place is amazing it’s a modern twist on Peruvian food. The quality is so fresh and delicious. The pasta for the Tajarin verde is fresh made from scratch and the dessert as well. 10/10 ❤️
Today was amazing! You should come here! I loved the appetizers. They had eggs and potatoes with a special sauce, I also liked the octopus, the rice, and much more! If you are looking for a place to eat, try here!
Phenomenal food and excellent service. This place had been on my radar since they opened & I was not disappointed. The food was simply delicious & full of flavor. And don’t skip out on dessert! The lucuma cheesecake was amazing. I’ll definitely be coming back.
